Marching Backwards

The #womensmarch didn’t resonate for me and here’s why:

Firstly, it’s called a ‘women’s march’. I want to clarify that I fiercely support the sisterhood of women and the power then can evoke when united, I understand that women need to rise, to shine their light and remember their innate wisdom to be able to gift to the world. I am behind all of that 100%.

I don’t understand why a march that is to unite people to stand up against their belief, in Trump being a disastrous president, excludes half the population. Surely that is counterproductive? And yes I understand that men went along too, but did they go feeling fully in their power? I know men that, though liberal, thoughtful and kind, would not wish to attend because they have had enough of the segregation that ‘feminism’ creates, they don’t want to attend a walk like this as a feminist but as a man, because that is what they are. Just like the women are women. It would have been so easy to create a march with an inclusive name – Humanitys March for instance.

And then what is the purpose of this march? To show their disdain and dissatisfaction with the morality of President Donald Trump…. and yet 63 million people voted for him, so they are also showing huge disdain and judgement towards 63 million voters. I am not a Trump supporter, nor do I like the majority of his ideals, as I’ve seen them expressed in the media, but I’m not going to sway anyone’s opinion by telling them they’re flat out wrong to have voted for him.

I might be able to understand them if I invited them to gather in small circles; sat together, broke bread together and listened to each other’s stories. In that scenario, I reckon I’d learn a lot, but marching with placards calling them liars and bullies (because everything labelled at Trump, also labels them), is just continuing the separation and alienation.

Some of my very favourite women rose up and marched and I honour them in their determination to do something and to stand up for what they see to be gross insults to humanity. I recognise their spirit, love and intention AND I don’t know how this march is going to change a single thing. I don’t know how this march does anything other than increase the unhappy feelings of inferiority/superiority, control or lack of, division and hatred.

People are shocked by the arrival of President Trump and what he represents, but only by understanding why and how he came to power will anything change.

  1. First off- who cares what it’s called. It was organized by women for women originally but then kind of drifted into something more. Nobody with a brain felt excluded or thought anything of it. And hell yes men went as what they are caring people who happen to be men. Just like the civil rights marches of the 1960’s weren’t only for black people. They were for ANYONE of conscience.
If you have a critical and practical understanding of U.S. history, then you already have an understanding of who Trump is and how he got where he is. You also would understand the voting numbers and what they mean. Not just for who won the election but what those numbers say about the people who voted for him.
This is the exact reason righteous people of conscience are in the streets. (And no, not all the people protesting are righteous or have a true understanding of why they are there.)
I believe this is actually a sign of national traumatic stress (or since the election is over PTSD). Honestly, I think this is a reaction (well reasoned or not) like most things dealt with in high stress situations.
These people have learned the lessons taught to them in the society in which they live.
Certain rules, codes of conduct, mores, and everything else that is to be acceptable to the society- they lived and existed within these rules.
Only to have everything that they were taught to be- is the exact opposite. Imagine your brain trauma if you begin to sense nothing is real. NOTHING is as it is supposed to be or seemed it was. The direction you perceived your society going is completely cut loose from it’s moorings.
What are you now? Where are you now? You have no idea because none of it is real.
What if tomorrow you turn on the news and you find out it’s now okay to harm children in any way you want. Just around 2/5th of the population is okay with it or at least not saying anything about it. What would you do? Sit home and think, well it’s bad but I can’t change it? or hey, i’m gonna find me a little slave child to do all my cleaning? or Hey, what the fuck is wrong with all of these other people in my community? what’s wrong with my society? doesn’t anyone else see this?????
The last category is what I believe the Women’s March protestors to be. People so concerned by the overt threats against all things that make up their society that they can not sit and wait for the injustices to happen before they get involved and speak up. If you knew ahead of time that a child would be harmed but did nothing because a law wasn’t broken yet, would that be acceptable?
These people are the canary in the coal mine. They are screaming out to everyone, look here!!! Please look here, take notice, think about what is going on here!!!!!! Do this before we end up somewhere we never should go and may never return from.
Would you just sit there if your world tilted off of its axis?

    1. I hear you. It is not about making the march wrong, I understand why it was created, I just don’t know that it actually ‘actions’ any change. The last thing I believe in is ‘sitting on my arse’, but I believe the true action lies elsewhere. Trump is just a puppet, so the key is to understand the puppeteers and I don’t see how the March does that AND I understand that, in feeling powerless, it created a sense of ‘doing’ something. I still believe grassroots change is the way forward. Starting right at the bottom and talking with our neighbours, building the strongest foundational community… that’s where the real power is.

  2. I feel my explanation of what is going on is fairly complete. Again, you need to have a comprehensive understanding of U.S. History in it’s entirety to see how many angles this government is moving against it’s citizens and the rest of the world.

Marches DO WORK (THEY HAVE ALREADY WORKED IN THE PAST). They have initiated the mental and social action of people who were unaware. They cause action by being action. They give people the sense that something is going on which helps to drive other actions.
(The fact that there is no central figure or leader yet with a clear concise goal is much more of a problem)

The difference is that in today’s world, it will take a march of a much larger proportion of the population like never seen before and never imagined. The march is advertisement for people to get involved. It has already mobilized other marches today and gatherings of civil disobedience. Furthermore, not only will it take marches, it will probably also take a nation wide labor strike. And it will also take unfortunate but not unforeseen death of protestors as well. This will not be easy in any way. Actually it is going to be nearly impossible.

Americans are incredibly dumb. The majority of them do not have critical thought. Brain dead people neutered in thought by a poorly funded highly politicized education system and a capitalistic mass media that has made them all zombies. Most of the history of the country and world is not known by the majority of people who live in the U.S. Without that knowledge, the struggle is increased 100 fold.

Trust me, Trump is no puppet. He is very cunning. He is here for a kleptocracy unimagined. He is a psychopath & sociopath to be sure, but he is no puppet. He succeeds when he gets you and others to think that he is just a fool, clown, or a puppet. That is in part why he has flourished on every level. He becomes whatever he needs to be, to do what he wants to do, without impunity.
In is this case, he is using the U.S. Congress to get what he wants while allowing them to get their donors and graft givers what they want. What do the rich want? That’s easy, complete control.
    OF EVERYTHING.
There is nothing more to understand than that. (Except also understanding that they DO NOT CARE AT ALL about any other human beings on this planet -is key too)
They’ve stated all of this openly several times.
In short, they want to end the U.S. government.

The grass roots you speak of is what the march is about. It was organized online (Facebook if I’m not mistaken) by 2 random women who thought it would never happen, but look what they accomplished. Change? No not yet, but there sure are a whole lot more people aware now, questioning now, looking at things now. They helped seed the “grass roots” groups that will ultimately get the changes reversed that we are just beginning to see.

In ending, just know, if the rest of the world doesn’t wake up to what america is experiencing, all of this madness will be delivered back out into the world in very terrifying ways.
The U.S. and a majority of it’s citizens have been living under the delusion that they are exceptional and privy to the illusion of Manifest Destiny.
At one time, there were leaders, who even though they disagreed on how to get things done, never disagreed on what needed to be done. Now, there are few to no real righteous government leaders for the populous. There are few to no true representatives of the people who vote.
Americans are ultimately in need of what their country has always pretended to be to the rest of the world, and that is a proponent and purveyor of democracy.
Americans need someone to save them from themselves.
